Edward Kelly Brings Anti-Counterfeiting Practice to LGP. Edward Kelly has joined LaRiviere, Grubman & Payne to become Director of its Asian Operations. Although Monterey is the “world headquaters” of LGP, Ed will work out of LGP’s Bangkok, Thailand office while shuttling to Hong Kong, Monterey and other client sites.

LGP Presents “Food Labeling: What You Need to Know” at World Ag Expo. On February 10, LaRiviere, Grubman & Payne, LLP and the California Bar Business Law Section’s Agribusiness Standing Committee will present a program on intellectual property and food labeling at the 32nd annual World Ag Expo in Tulare, California. Christopher Passarelli Receives Recognition from California Bar Business Law Section. Vice Co-Chair of the Agribusiness Standing Committee, Passarelli received recognition from the Executive Committee of the Section for his contribution in developing creative committee programs.

Edward Kelly Honored by Boston University School of Law. Edward Kelly received the Victor Garo Award from BU School of Law for his humanitarian work in October 2009. The award was presented in recognition of his long-term efforts to fight illicit human trafficking in Asia. He is a key advisor to sisha.org, an organization devoted to this work in Asia.

Payne Article is Published in IP Litigator Magazine on Patent Damages. Partner Robert Payne’s article on compensatory patent damages and the issues of apportionment and the Entire Market Value Rule was published in the November/December 2009 issue of IP Litigator magazine.

Trunck and Passarelli present “Essentials of IP in Business Law” on January 13. Payne to Speak in Austin, TX in March on Jurisdiction and Foreign Corporations. Robert Payne has been invited to speak at the Texas Bar Advanced Intellectual Property Institute, set in Austin, TX for March 4 and 5. He will address the “national contacts” jurisdiction approach, a little-known alternative to traditional jurisdictional bases, for use in suing foreign corporations in federal courts.
